Six Sigma is a highly disciplined process that helps to focus on developing and delivering near-perfect products and services. Six Sigma initiative is a focused approach to resolve problems and optimize processes.
CII plays a proactive role to enhance SIX SIGMA Tools & Techniques for Indian Industry. CII Institute of Quality’s Six sigma Black Belt (Level-1) certification programmes are designed for improvement in Indian Industry. Many success stories have begun to evolve in India through CII’s continued effort.
In the SIX SIGMA technique, each chronic problem is considered as a Project and systematically taken through the following four stages :
- Define (D)
- Measure & Analyze (M&A)
- Improve (I)
- Control (C)
In various applications of process improvement methodologies, the DMAIC techniques are fine tuned and used according to the requirements of the Industry.
CII Six Sigma Award Competition
In the year 2007, CII-IQ established a National Award on Six Sigma to recognize organizations which have successfully adopted and implemented the Six Sigma techniques resulting in improvement in processes. The CII Six Sigma Awards are given in an annual conference organized by the CII Institute of Quality (CII-IQ).
Every year, CII-IQ invites organizations to participate in the Six Sigma Competition and present their successful case studies.
The objectives of the CII Six Sigma Award Competition are :
- To showcase successful case studies done through Six Sigma Techniques by different organizations/ individuals in India which have resulted in improvement in processes.
- To Learn the key/ best practices through the successful case studies and interact with six sigma practitioners for hands-on usage of the techniques.
- To get exposed to various innovative tools and techniques used for making Process improvements.
The Award Competition is organized in the following four categories :
- Discrete Manufacturing
- Bulk Materials & Utility Sector
- Transactional processes
- Lean
The nature of the projects are either Critical to Quality; Critical to Satisfaction or Critical to Cost.
Through this Competition, CII recognises four Best case studies from each of the above categories and presents the Award for the BEST SIX SIGMA PROJECTS at the Conference.
