TPM is today well known amongst Indian Industry as a powerful tool to become competitive in operations and management. TPM ( Total Productive Maintenance ) , considered to be one of the jewels of Manufacturing by the Japanese Industry, made its humble beginnings in the Indian Industry way back in early 1990s in the shop floors of Vikram Cements, TANFAC & followed by Sundram Fasteners the Auto component manufacturer. Since then TPM has gained strong foothold and taken deep in–roots into the Manufacturing sector, spanning across Petrochemicals, FMCG, Steel, Pharma etc to quote a few divergent industries. Many Industries are enthusiastically introducing this approach and are achieving exciting results. TPM is a highly structures approach with very clear milestones and indicators that can be implemented with skilled professionals.
We, at CII TPM Club India, have been serving the Indian Manufacturing Sector, for over a decade and half, through training, consulting and actual hand holding in implementation of TPM, as advocated and practiced by JIPM ( Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance ) the original developers of TPM methodologies, world over. The TPM Facilitator course has been developed in the CII TPM Club India with a goal of developing such professionals in the companies who are practicing and initiating TPM.
To understand, assimilate and implement TPM inside any organization, calls for a firm comprehension of the principles and methods of the various pillar activities, by the secretariat team, since it is they who have to ensure a structured way of TPM implementation. Depending upon the size of the organization, a minimum of two persons would be required to possess this knowledge, to deploy among the operating teams, middle and senior management alike.
To cater to this growing demand, CII TPM Club India, has developed the FACILITATORS’ COURSE, with the view of more focused towards senior management members or Site Heads or the TPM Coordinators.
The program would equip each participant to shoulder TPM responsibility, to drive its deployment across the organization, and also to successfully steer the organization to challenge the JIPM Award. The methods, tools, techniques and concepts dealt in this program is strictly in conformity with the JIPMS methodology ( consulting division of JIPM ). To mention with all humility, it would be worthwhile to note that CII TPM Club India , has so far conducted successfully 23 Facilitator Courses, more as an annual event , inclusive of those conducted overseas in Egypt, Andaman and South Africa also, for the benefit of TPM practicing organizations. Several organizations which are yet to start TPM practices have also been the beneficiaries of the Facilitators’ Course.
Participants would be exposed to TPM through classroom training and case study presentations. The programme ends with an examination that would qualify the participants as TPM in-house facilitators.
In the previous 23 Facilitators courses, 531 facilitators from 344 companies participated. They assumed the role of internal guides / champions / coordinators and are guiding their companies in the journey of TPM.
