Text Box: Last year, we celebrated 60 years of India’s Independence. Even as we are justifiably proud of our many achievements and accomplishments, it is now time to ask ourselves - where do we go from here?, where should we be @ 75?, how should India @ 75 look like?”
Former President of India Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam has, in his VISION 2020 document, shared his dream with all of us. Prof. C K Prahalad has also addressed this issue and suggested a roadmap for “India@75” in a lecture delivered during the India@60 celebrations in New York on September 23, 2007.
The 16th Quality Summit of CII, to be held in November 2008, will take Prof. Prahalad’s thesis forward and examine, in depth, the Quality dimension of “India @75”.
Through the earlier Quality Summits, CII has been both an enabler and a witness to the evolution of the Quality movement in India. The definition of Quality is shifting from excellence in products, processes and services to excellence in Leadership and in Governance. India today is at the cusp of a new paradigm of Quality – where Quality is not limited to products and services but permeates all aspects of Indian society and polity – indeed, Quality of Life itself.
The challenge for us at the Summit is to apply the ‘Quality’ dimension to creating a more equal India, a better governed India and a competitive India. An India not only seen as having a rich heritage, but also as a global leader to reckon with.
